Program Coordinator

POSITION:                               PROGRAM COORDINATOR

                                                      Jumpstart

 

REPORTS TO:                          Executive Director

                                                      JOB CLASSIFICATION:       FULL TIME

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The Program Coordinator is responsible for the day to day operation of the Jumpstart Mentoring programs. The Program Coordinator is responsible for program development, marketing, data collection, and report writing for the program. This position has direct contact with, care of, and supervision over youth who are ages 7-17. The Program Coordinator is responsible for oversight of the Jumpstart group mentoring program in Johnson and Morgan Counties. Salary based on experience.

DETAILED DUTIES:

  • Ensure that required programmatic paperwork is completed in a timely and accurate manner following regulatory standards
  • Maintain close communication with the Associate Executive Director
  • Market program to appropriate referral sources including the community and schools
  • Work involves long hours, evenings and weekends are mandatory (Flexible hours available)
  • Travel to various school systems for presentations as needed
  • Intervene when appropriate to ensure the safety and welfare of the child/children
  • Ensure maintenance and completion of client files when necessary
  • Accept other duties as assigned to ensure the “team concept” with staff members
  • Recruit and enroll youth in mentoring groups
  • Plan for and facilitate mentoring groups during the school year and the summer
  • Correspond regularly with supervisor, youth, parents, and school personnel
  • Assist with collection of data, maintain files for each youth, report data, and track youth participant outcomes
  • Liaison with school personnel, community partners, families & volunteers to promote programs

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree with training; and/or experience with training in content areas. A minimum of one-year experience working with children and families (education background a plus)
  • Maintain confidentiality pertaining to client information
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Must be creative, able to generate ideas and be a self-starter
  • Responsible, dependable, well-organized and demonstrate a high level of integrity and professionalism
  • Access to reliable transportation with proof of insurance
  • Good organizational skills
  • Training in evidence-based program delivery (specific to services delivered)
  • Knowledge of community services and resources
  • Bilingual a plus
  • Must be a non-smoker
  • Conduct small and large group active enrichment activities

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Basics of child development
  • Family dynamics
  • Effects of abuse/neglect
  • Cultural Competency
  • Positive Youth development
  • Trauma informed care
